it was only the estuary of a great river . Probably one of them Gonzalo Coelho gave this body of water the name of the
month . It is a major seaport . Rio was the capital and largest city of Brazil from 1763 to 1960 . The lush jungles of Rio , spectacular mountains and gorgeous
beaches make it one of the most fascinating cities in the world.
