- The Great Sphinx of Giza is a monumental statue which located on the west bank of the Nile River, In ancient Egypt , sphinxes were statues representing deities with lion body and the head of another animal or human, often a replica of the king. The most famous of the Egyptian sphinxes is the Great Sphinx of Giza, near the pyramids. It dates from the year 2500 B.C and about 20 m height and about 73 m long .
